The
Donkey Show
A
Midsummer Night’s Disco
Diane
Palus is a theatre genius. I had the privilege of seeing the original cast of
her Tony-awards winning revival of Hair (my favorite musical!) a couple years
back in New York. She really has a knack for creating an enviorment and The
Donkey Show is no different. TDS is another immersive theatre experience this
time set in a 1970’s night club. The audience gets the full sha-bang whilst
waiting in line to get past the bouncer. Once inside they are allowed to peruse
the bar or head straight out to the dance floor. The show begins once the cast
steps out of the audience and into the spotlight.
I am incredibly intrigued by this idea. I have seen a movie that put A Midsummer
Night’s Dream in modern times and at a rave which seems similar to this concept.
The script for the movie was poor and so the movie failed, but the concept was
great. I think getting to dress up in disco-wear and dance with the actors
sounds like a blast.
American
Repertory Theater presents The Donkey Show, the
intoxicating international sensation that takes you behind thevelvet

Come party on the dance floor to all the disco hits youknow
by heart as The Donkey Show unfolds all around you. It’s ashow
