What's Saving My Life Today...

I was reading through my dailies today and stumbled on to a post by Ashlee at Where My Heart Resides, about what how her eleven month baby, even though he wears her out and frustrates her to no end is what keeps her moving.

This really stuck with me today, as my cast of Spring Awakening and I are mourning the loss of a great man. A man who felt as though he didn't have enough strength to go on any longer. It really has me thinking about my younger years and how I know I have felt that pain and agony before. I am so grateful today to have things that keep me going. Here is a list of what is saving my life today:

My fantastic Cast. Oh how I love them all so much. It crazy how you can just meet someone and feel instantly connected, but that's how I feel with each and every one of them. I feel for them as they struggle through this tough time and know if we all stick together we can get through this and put on a show that is really something to be proud of.

My amazing Boyfriend. There are no words to describe how grateful I am for him each and everyday. He is the first thing I want to see when I wake up and the last thing I want to see before I close my eyes. He's my home and there is nothing else that matters.

Last is my family and friends, I don't have a photo for them because I don't want to make anyone feel like they are more or less important than the other. I have some pretty superbly supportive people in my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. xoxo.

The Cards Sweep the Cubs..... and I get overheated.

For Boyfriend's birthday back in April I bought him and I two tickets to see the St. Louis Cardinals take on their rivals the Chicago Cubs. He was really excited about it but felt like I spent too much money on the tickets, so he insisted I put those up on StubHub and look for a pair for Sunday which were much cheaper. I did so and while our tickets were up there for almost three months no one else wanted to pay the ridiculous amount that I paid for them, thus we got to see back to back Cards/Cubs games this weekend, Happy Anniversary as well.

We went down to Edwardsville, where the Boyfriend is from, late on Friday night/Saturday morning because he had something to do in town before the game at 6. We were super excited to catch his sister at his parents house before she headed down to Paris, TN, to go visit their parents at their summer home. It was nice to see and catch up with her but we were tired by the time we got there so we didn't visit for very long and were off to bed.

While the Boy had to get up early and go do some stuff, I slept in 'til noon. It was fabulous. Since starting rehearsals last Monday I am zonked ALL. THE. TIME... but seriously I'm old. haha. When I finally got my lazy butt up I caught up on some Pretty Little Liars (I am so addicted to this show!) and Baby Daddy (it's growing on me...) and then decided it was probably time to start getting ready for the game.

Boyfriend got home about 20 minutes before we had to leave so he was running around the house trying to get everything ready before we headed out there. We didn't want to buy food at the stadium (even though he did anyway), so we got some yummy, horrible for you, McDonalds (it's the perfect road food).

When we got to the stadium we found some really awesome FREE! parking. It was a little bit of trek to the park and we were kind of scared we were going to get towed but it was FREE! so we didn't care. It was still quite warm when we got there and we were really afraid it was going to be miserable the whole game, but right as they were throwing the first pitch some clouds rolled in and it was perfect weather for the rest of the game.

Overall the game was kind of a boring game. It was a no scoring game until the bottom of the seventh when the Cards hit in 12 runs. That was pretty sweet! My dad texted me to let me know we saw them tie their team record for runs scored in an inning that game. Heck yes! Despite the 12 runs we did not get to see anyone hit a homerun that game so we were mildly disappointed. The Boy got hungry around the fourth inning and I was dying for a drink so we went and grabbed some concesiones (hot dog, popcorn, AND soda for him and just a bottle of water for me).

We were pretty tired after the game so we didn't do much. We made a pit stop at Walmart so I could get some shorts (I stupidly brought jeans to wear  in 100 degree weather...) and made an appearance at a party his buddy was throwing. By the time we got home, we were ready to hit the hay.

Today we woke up in a panic! None of the clocks in his parents house are set to the right times and both of our phones were dead. We thought for sure we were going to be late to the game. I ran into the bathroom and plugged my phone into the charger to see that it was only 11:30 however we had about a half hour before we had to leave if we wanted to get there on time.

Despite stopping for some yummy Jack in the Box and parking in the same spot as Saturday which is a bit of a trek to the park we ended up in our seats by the middle of the top of the 1st inning! We had really great seats however they were in the direct sun and neither one of us had faith that we were going  to make it through the whole game in them. 

At about the 4th inning Boyfriend asked if I was ready to go find some shade, being as I was feeling like if I sat in the sun for one more minute I completely obliged. As we were walking up steps and looking for some where we could still see the game I could feel my anxiety start to kick in and I started to see black spots. By the time we got to the next level I needed to sit down. Boyfriend was trying to wiped something off my face and I all but bit his head off for getting in my personal space.

An event manager saw us and let us know that just around the corner there were ceiling fans so I could get more circulation and cool down quicker. When I felt like I could stand we moved over there. I sat on the concrete under a fan and next to an open part of the stadium where the breeze could get to me, sipping Powerade for about 20 minutes before I felt better, but once I did I felt great. We ended up moving closer to the diamond and were able to see the back-to-back homeruns hit by Holiday and Beltran. 

Overall it was a good weekend and we swept the Cubs. Go Cards. xoxo

"Maybe I'll I need is a shot in the arm..."

A couple weekends ago the boyfriend and I took a little trip up to Chicago. It was quite an amazing time. We got there on Saturday afternoon in enough time to check into our hotel, freshen up and then go out and do somethings. I, of course, had to make a pit stop at their mall because they have a Forever 21 and a H&M. I bought four dresses for $90! That is ridiculous... actually Boyfriend bought them for me... isn't he sweet. We had dinner at this amazing Mediterranean place called Basils. It was delicious!!

The next morning we got up and perused the Geneva/Batavia area (the town where the concert was). They both had quaint little downtown squares, which were fun. We ate at a little pub in Geneva called The Little Owl, it was really interesting on the inside, lots of exposed wood.

We headed toward the concert at 3ish and there was already a line wrapped around itself twice. The show didn't start until 5! We were freaking out that we weren't going to get a good spot until Boyfriend spotted another line on the other side of the stadium... Score! When we got inside we found a spot near the back of the bleachers and took turns grabbing merch. before the lines got too out of control. We're huge dorks so we played Cribbage and Rummy while we waited for the show to start.

The first opening act was a band called The Congregation. They were pretty good, they had a chick singer, which I love! We couldn't hear them very well so we decided to rough it among the crazies and go down to the field.... best decision we made all night. We could hear so much better down there and the environment overall was just so much better.

Andrew Bird was the second opener and he was fine as well. I don't think he's really the type of artist that I would want to see in that kind of environment again. His music just felt way too laid back and classical for an outdoor summer concert. I'm not saying it wasn't good because that would be a lie, he's an amazing musician, I just think this wasn't quite the venue for him.

When Wilco finally came out it was like a breathe of fresh air. Even though everyone was tired, drunk and sunburnt the whole crowd just came alive as they plucked out the first few chords of "Dawned on Me." Jeff Tweedy is probably my new favorite person to see live, he was just so much fun and very funny. They played a lot of really good stuff and even pulled out some old hits like "A Shot in the Arm." The best song of the night had to be "Via Chicago," which they played in their second encore. The crowd went absolutely crazy and you can hear them on the recording singing along.

All in all it was a great vacation and a great show. What fun concerts have you guys been to? xoxo

Happy Birthday Mandi.

Hello friends. Friday was my best friend's birthday. The lovely Mandi turned 22. We celebrated by going out for sushi and hibachi. It was delicious! Plus it was boyfriend's first experience with hibachi... he's a fan. After dinner we went out and had a blast. We sang, drank, and were merry.

Saturday was a much needed chill day. E, the boyfriend and, I laid around all day watching movies and eating my mom's homemade chili (yum!). We watch Due Date (pretty funny but a little slow at times), My Soul to Take (awful!) and, The Ring. After movies we played Trivial Pursuit, which is a favorite of mine, be-tee-dubs. :) I'm awful but I still love it.

Today boyfriend and I got a much needed sleep in day, before we headed to my dad's. After munching on some yummy kabobs and baked potatoes we played the Kinect. It is soooooooo much fun! It's like a Wii but better. We seriously played it for like two hours. Best thing ever.

Also I'm about halfway through The Hunger Games! I'm already in love with Peeta Mellark. I haven't made a decision about Katniss but I think I like, which is a big deal for me because I usually hate chick narrators. They're usually whiney but Katniss has reason to be.

Weekends with the Fam.

Hi guys! Sorry I missed you yesterday. This weekend it flying by already. I can't believe its Saturday night. Wow. My brother is in town for the weekend so we've been spending as much time with him as we can. Last night my grandma was ALSO in town so we went and had dinner with her at Dublin Pub (yummy, yummy horseshoes!). Then we came home and played cards and laid on the couch and got up on some Big Bang (love me some Sheldon Cooper :) ). Today we went to my dad's and hung out there all day. Played some fun board games (I won two outta four!!! Heck yes!) Then we went to dinner at Smokeybones with him and Jess. Lots going on lots of family time and lots of love. Tomorrow is the first dinner with the parents. Matt's parents are coming to my mom's to have dinner so we'll see how it goes.... Wish us luck!

 Last night was Rocky Horror. I swear its more fun every year. This year I knew more of the call backs and could yell with the best of them. Matt and I dressed up as Brad and Magenta. He was such a trooper about being in his boxers in public and having a red lipstick "V" put on his forehead. It was really cute watching him try to catch on to the callbacks as well. He's a doll, he really is. My friend Erica was a sexual beast! She is one hot little thing. Let me tell you what. If you have never been I highly recommend it. Especially the midnight show.

"What a day for a daydream"

Today went to the extremes. We spent the day with Matt's parents which is always a good time. We drove into the sunset. The view was gorgeous. We had dinner with my mom at the truck stop, which was delicious! Then we laid on the couch until bed. Not to exciting, but perfect for us. Sunday is the ultimate lazy day. :)

I quite possibly have the most adorable boyfriend on the planet. When he got home he asks if I want to go talk a walk under the stars. Isn't that precious?! Then were not even a mile outside the house he went back to go grab his camera so we could take pictures. :)
